The "Lady Slipper" orchid is native to Southeast
Asia. Once a
year, one or more pouch-like flowers emerge and last up to 2 months.
The Paphiopedilum orchid remains compact, and blooms only on new
growths. There are two types--a solid green leaf type which produces
a large, waxy flower and a mottled-leaf type that produces a smaller,
oriental-looking flower.
